Accomplishments
(MIMI is now BANNED and will hopefully be allowed back in at one year of age
(ne she was not
bad!, she was a impecably very well behaved puppy, just like her big brother)
CJ is not "banned", However: His owner/handler has been given only one option
He may come in for
"one hour" limited visits, no more than twice a month
He will then have to be locked up in the office
until the owner/handler is able to take him home outside of work hours
This "one hour" is taken out of the Pet Therapy Program Policy that "recommends" an outside therapy
dog coming in be limited to this "recommended" one hour, in order to "reduce stress on the animal"
CJ has not been tired or stressed with while being here
He has proved himself to be fine for one hour,
one week, one month, one year......almost 4 years! He always has had an option to retreat to his kennel
on the bottom of the cart when he was tired, (which was rare)
CJ's owner/handler is aware that being limited to one hour and then being locked up in the office,
would indeed be stressful for him
CJ will no longer be available for
CJ sitting on a lap during a sing along
No snuggles during a movie, or while sitting in the garden
No being present at any programs because he may be considered a "distraction"
No going to a butterfly release, even though he has been with several residents as they took
their last breath
Owner/handler" had an album that was released and is was all about the time
with CJ and music comforting residents during their end of life
No more dressing up like the themes were are doing
No barking at the squirrels and being part of their story that he started and still continues on
without him there
No letting someone have a “choice” to come out of their room and cuddle him instead of a
program they don’t want to do
No more quick cuddles before or after programs
No CJ to bring a smile as he helps portering people back to their rooms with a ride in their
wheelchair
A favorite of all
I could write a book about all the precious comments during those
short but meaningful rides
No giving a quick hug to a resident as they are being taken away in an ambulance (even an
ambulance driver asked me where he was a while ago...he noticed that CJ wasn't there as I often
did if I knew about it)
No longer able to be there instantly when asked, to take just 2 minutes in passing by .
To calm
an anxious soul
The biggest change that is sad is that THE RESIDENTS are the ones losing out
