I started in the construction industry straight out of high school.I had grown up watching my father operating various pieces of heavy equipment and had made up my mind what it was that I wanted to do as far as a career was concerned. My father owned and operated a medium sized excavating company from 1974 to 1980. II was employed there from 1976 to 1980.

In the winter 80-81 I ventured into Northern Ontario and was fortunate to find employment with Campbell-Red Lake mining. the Detour Lake project was just kicking off and CRL was in need of operators. While at Detour I was in charge of operating a Leibherr 991R shovel front as well D9l and D8L Caterpillar dozers as well as a Caterpillar 992C wheel loader. after a couple seasons with CRL I came back to southern Ontario joined the IUOE Local793. I met my now wife Barbara we wed in 1985. We have three fantastic children and two very special grandchildren.
