Summary

A MSci Medicinal Chemistry graduate with significant practical experience obtained through a year’s industrial placement and employment as a COVID scientist at Randox Laboratories. A dedicated and proactive individual who thrives working in a team environment but also loves the challenge of an independent project.

  • Leadership – I developed leadership skills working as a shift lead in the COVID labs at Randox laboratories. The role gave me the opportunity to train new employees in the protocol used in PCR testing.
  • Teamwork/Collaboration – I am very comfortable working in a team environment and enjoy the opportunity of collaborating with others. In university I carried out a group project with my peers in which we took an existing chemical reaction and suggested changes to it to became more ‘green’ (environmentally friendly). We then compiled a report and presented it to our year group.
  • Computer Proficiency – I am highly experienced in the use of MS Office in addition to ChemDraw and Scifinder. I completed two workshops in MS Excel and Bruker’s Top Spin NMR data analysis software, the latter which I used to identify the structures of unknown chemical compounds I synthesised during my masters.
  • Communication – I have excellent communication skills developed at university where presentations and group discussions were frequent.
  • Time Management/Organisation- During my third year at university I carried out a placement at Randox laboratories. As a result, I had to balance my project work at Randox with my final year university studies. I was able to achieve this by organising my day to complete specific aspects of my project work whilst allotting time for me to read and complete my university work. As a result, I completed a 5-year degree in 4 years.
