Maribelle Bangayan

I am a Registered Nurse with seven years of experience across critical care, surgical, gynecologic, gender-affirming, and outpatient settings. These experiences have shaped the kind of clinician I want to become: someone who not only responds to illness, but also helps patients understand their health, feel heard, and receive care before problems become more serious. I am especially passionate about primary care, women’s health, and health equity, and I value building trusting relationships with patients over time. I am pursuing graduate education to expand my clinical scope, strengthen my leadership and research skills, and become a Nurse Practitioner who provides accessible, evidence-informed, and patient-centred care.

• Community Volunteer Income Tax Program - ISS of BC (2027)
  - Assisted newcomers and refugees with income tax filing and navigation of government benefits and services.
• Research Assistant - UBC Psychology / Sexuality and Well-Being Research (2014-2016)
  - Supported research examining sexual health and behaviour, with particular interest in cultural differences in perceptions of sexuality and sexual activity.
• Peer Support Volunteer - UBC Speakeasy (2014-2015)
  - Provided confidential, non-judgmental peer support to students experiencing personal or academic challenges, using active listening and empathetic communication while connecting individuals with appropriate campus and community resources.
