Mariana Gomez

Worked as technician, and crew head for all the productions occurring in LabO Theatre, academic Hall Theatre, and Studio Leonard-Beaulne, including, but not limited to student, amateur, and professional productions. This ranged from dance recitals, staff parties, film screenings, musicals, stage plays, among other art forms. My job consisted of Building sets, hanging and focusing lights, configuring sound, teaching first year students, and helping the technical director with any projects.

A few times a month, I write articles for the Fulcrum Newspaper at the University of Ottawa! Although the topics range in all categories, my specialties lie in Arts and Culture.

Participated in a "Pop-up Film School" with Hot Shoe Productions, where we created a short film that has been presented in screening festivals such as Kino and Ottawa ComicCon 2023.

Last summer I worked as technician for Venue 1201 at the 2023 Ottawa Fringe Festival! Myself alongside another technician were in charge of setting up, patching, and programming the lights, sound, and projector in the space, as well as set up the venue. We hosted a total of 8 shows with around 64 performances in a span of two weeks!

I worked in the dorms for the university of Ottawa, helping my residents with any aspects of their university experience. Whether it was an academic, mental health, social, or personal issue, I was there to support my residents in any way that I could. I would host activities a few times a month to grow a sense of community in my floor, as well as plan individual meetings with my residents to make sure they are getting the assistance they need!

I worked alongside up-and-coming director, Mariana Esqueda from Mexico City to bring the musical "Spring Awakening" to our city. I worked on the beginning stages of the production binder, making casting options, planning events, creating mood boards, and organizing the different aspects of production.

I was an independent consultant for the brand Nikken, where I would help my clients understand the benefits of organic products that satisfy our human necessities. My main focus involved water filters, but I worked in almost every branch of sales at one point or another.
