Workforce Training and Development Units are designed to provide consistency and support to newly hired Protective Services Worker (PSW). The supervisor, supports, mentors and coaches new PSW’s to enhance investigations skills and apply transfer of learning from classroom learning to field work. Ensure state mandates were completed, assist in policy development, program development and implementation, facilitate training/coaching on policy and best practice.

Hotline/Standby supervisor, ensure productivity of child abuse hotline. Supervisor is responsible for Emergency Response for the after-hours standby program of approximately 4 workers daily in addition to hotline staff. Assessed of child abuse allegations need in person response after regular business hours. Works closely with standby workers during their investigation to assess child abuse and neglect. These investigations require a supervisor who can think very quickly through safety and risk assessments.

Supported the implementation of Safety Organized Practice by using individual and group coaching. Assist workers and supervisors in the process of learning SOP, policy and best practice to best serve families in CWS.

Investigate allegations of child abuse called to the hotline after hours such as nights and weekends. Worked closely with various hotline supervisor in assessing for safety, safety planning and in using exigency. In this role, I responded to regular standby referrals, CSEC and Border Standby that required special knowledge and skills.

Indian Specialty unit 2/2013-11/2014

As a Protective Service Worked closely with Native American Reservations in San Diego County to investigate child abuse and neglect. Collaborated with tribal social workers to meet the needs of the families yet, still honor their culture, traditions and tribal laws. Worked multiple programs within ISU such as Emergency Response, Voluntary Services, and Residential Case Management.

Court Intervention Unit 2/2011-2/2013

Investigated child abuse and neglect in a fast pace environment, assessed if a family needed to be court involved. Write court reports to support investigations and meet court datelines. Managed a caseload of court cases, create case plans, ensure families received appropriate referrals to services, schedule and complete visitation for parents. Work closely with substitute caregivers, attorneys, Law Enforcement and community partners.
