Responsible for the oversight of approximately 50-80 inmates, as well as coordinating the movement of inmates as part of the daily jail operations (court appearances, medical appointments/treatments, feeding, pill distribution, among other activities). In addition to managing inmate movement, I also oversee and carry out any disciplinary action for inmates, as a result of their poor behavior (issue minor/major write-up reports). I also serve as an assistant to the deputy assigned to the Quad I am assigned to for the shift.
I promoted to the supervisor for Shift A at our HQ Criminal Records Unit, in March 2015. I was in charge of 8-10 staff members in our daily operation. My staff includes 1 Sr. Records Technician, and 5 Records Technicians I/II. I would oversee the training of new staff members, as well as the continuous training of our more tenure staff. I also supervise staff while they perform their daily assigned operations, which can range from assisting members of the public, other Law Enforcement agencies, Governmental agencies as well as internal staff. I also serve as a liaison between staff and management. One of my many duties as the shift supervisor is to ensure the staff is kept up to date with any procedural changes, and legislature updates which affect their daily work operations. It is imperative as a supervisor to ensure your staff is trained properly with any guidelines and regulations governed by the California Public Records Act. Other duties included dealing with staff issues, which can range from conduct, attendance, work performance, as well as interpersonal conflict. My job is to make sure any disorganization and conflicts are resolved, to ensure the work is being completed in a satisfactory, efficient, and timely manner. I process staff’s yearly performance evaluations, my duty as a supervisor is to nurture and help my staff in their professional growth, by providing them with the necessary training tools to develop their knowledge so they can flourish in their current job roles. I am also a Certified Academy Instructor for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Training Academy. I currently teach the Learning Domain 36: Information Systems class to all potential law enforcement recruits. I have been teaching at the Academy for over 3.5 years (2 classes per year). I was promoted to a Sr. Records Tech in June 2017. My duties as a Sr. Records specialist were to ensure the proper training of new employees, to be able to carry out the functions of a Records Specialist, as well as process employee evaluations. As a lead employee I oversee the supervision of all staff members who work under my leadership on my assigned shift. In my duties as a Records Tech II I assisted members of the public over the counter or via the phone; by providing them with information or processing a vehicle or report release. I also carry out various tasks as assigned by supervisors; that range but are not limited to making copies, filing, and organizing paperwork, gathering information, entering, and retrieving data from multiple systems utilized by the department to complete the work. The job required me to assist other department staff members with requests, such processing employment or volunteer background checks for department personnel. Entering and retrieving data from the various systems to ensure that reports and/or records are processed accurately and in a timely manner. A Records Specialist II responsible to ensure accuracy and timeliness in the data entry of a stolen, recovered, and stored vehicle in the state system which will ensure the safety of other agencies peace officers.

Caring out various task as assigned by various supervisors; that range but are not limited to making copies, filing, and organizing paperwork, gathering information, assisting in the preparation of projects, entering, and retrieving data from multiple systems utilized by the department to complete the job at hand. The job also requires us to assist other department staff members with their requests. It is vital you keep yourself up to date with the multiple systems used in the department to be able to do the job. I enter and retrieve data from the various systems to ensure that reports and/or records are processed accurately and in a timely manner. Some of the other tasks required by our position range from processing documentation such as traffic collisions, citations, court packets in a timely manner. It is the Records Tech responsibility to ensure accuracy and timeliness in the data entry of a stolen, recovered, and stored vehicle in the state system which will ensure the safety of other department staff members, peace officers. The completion of these tasks that must be completed to ensure the job gets done. I was promoted to a Records Tech II in the month of November 2013. I also begin my collateral assignment as a Victim Advocate for the Family Protection Unit. Some of my responsibilities ranged from answering to call outs, assisting the victim and detectives, and collecting and booking evidence pertaining to the case.
