Throughout my years at boarding school, I have gained a range of skills applicable to the work force. I have fostered my leadership abilities, learned how to mediate conflict, and mastered time management. The various activities I partake in have allowed me to work with a wide range of people, discover my strengths and improve my weaknesses. As student athlete, I understand the value of commitment and dedication, work extremely well on a team, and know how to balance all areas of my life.
Appointed to be a resident leader for my dorm of 50 girls. I work to create a welcoming and inclusive dorm environment by assisting younger students transition to living away from home, helping to enforce the school rules, planning dorm activities, and being a supportive resource for the residents.
Began as a staff writer for the NMH newspaper, The Lamplighter, in 10th grade. After two years of reporting on the school community, I was selected to become the Arts and Culture section editor. As an editor I help writers brainstorm ideas, guide them through the interviewing and writing processes, and thoroughly proofread their work before approving their pieces for publication.
Selected to be a member of the NMH Student Faculty Interview Committee, where I act as a student representative during the faculty hiring process. I meet with perspective faculty and ask questions in order to decide if they would be a proper fit for the school community. I helped hire three successful faculty members during my first year on the committee.
Worked as an Engagement Leader for NMH in 10th grade where I gave tours to prospective families, assisted during NMH Open Houses, held zoom information sessions for incoming students and packaged welcome boxes.
Selected to be a Teacher's Assistant for a 9th grade health class at NMH, where I aided in the teaching of topics including substance abuse, bodily systems, and personal wellness.
