Work History

Electrical Engineering Intern

Fraser Valley Packers
Abbotsford
  • Operated and maintained a blueberry purée production plant, ensuring consistent system performance by managing a technical and complex network of machines interconnected through a PLC system and programming, resulting in smooth and efficient plant operation
  • Created instructional documentation to aid future employees/operators to help them understand the system
  • By developing step-by-step guides and manuals based on my hands-on experience and industry standards, I was able to improve the onboarding process for new employees
  • This effort, which involved using MS Word, reduced training time and enhanced productivity
  • Using the instruction documentation and manuals, trained the prospective operators
  • Maintenance and repair of the light/laser curtains
  • Edited electrical schematics by reviewing and updating schematic diagrams of a robotic arm to reflect system changes
  • This task involved using AutoCAD and resulted in enhanced accuracy of technical documentation, which facilitated easier troubleshooting and maintenance.

Relevant Project Experience-UBC

PPG Sensor design

  • Developed a non-invasive sensor to measure blood volume changes and heart rate using infrared light.
  • Designed a multi-stage circuit with a bandpass response, including Transimpedance amplifier with lowpass characteristics to convert light intensity to a voltage signal., High pass filter and amplifier to remove noise and enhance the signal, creating an overall bandpass filter.
  • Comparator to convert the analog signal into a digital pulse., Pulse generator to create fixed-width pulses for the LED driver., Selected and integrated key components: operational amplifiers, infrared LED, and photodiode.
  • Conducted extensive testing and troubleshooting using multimeters and oscilloscopes. Achieving an improved signal reliability and sensitivity through iterative testing and optimization.
  • Successfully measured and recorded accurate heart rate data.

Soft Robotic Design Project

  • Designed a silicon-based robot model, governed by pressure gradient, for a biomedical engineering project.
  • Modeled a soft robotic arm in SolidWorks, capable of gently picking up an egg, demonstrating proficiency in robotics and material science.

Stress Monitoring and Mitigation for First Responders

  • Capstone Project: Stress Monitoring and Mitigation for First Responders at University of British Columbia., Developed an algorithm to detect the presence of stress- used data such as temperature, heart rate, EDA, etc. from devices such as Empatica and Apple Watch.
  • Recommended the cortisol test and used the data from the test to quantify the amount of stress in the first responders.
  • Developed a system to monitor and mitigate stress levels in first responders using advanced technology and machine learning.

 Inclusive Designer

  • Designed a sliding door mechanism to assist individuals with short stature and lower upper body strength.
  • Winning 1st place in a design competition.

Brushed DC Motor Design

  • Conceptualized, designed, and tested a functional brushed DC motor from the ground up.
  • Tested and optimized the operation of the motor by using tools such as multimeter.

Heart Valve Design Project

  • A project that delved into the world of biomedical engineering for finding a solution to replacing the damaged heart valve.
  • Explored the already existing solutions, such as bi and tri leaflet mechanical valves, ball and cage valve, etc.
  • In order to come up with an improved solution, Engineers from the different disciplines worked together as a team to create a detailed SolidWorks model of a heart valve. Integrated principles from both biomedical and mechanical engineering.
