Development and implementation of our company's Transit Training program in 2016. My role in this is to contact referrals and set up appropriate training sessions based on their individual needs (mobility aids, communication aids, etc). Working with diverse populations, with various barriers to independent transit use.
Carrying out rehabilitation programs, both physical and cognitive, to clients with a wide range of injuries ranging from mild to severe, under the direction of Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapists and/or Speech Language Pathologists
Working closely with overseeing therapist to create and adapt programs to meet client’s needs and abilities
Programs include Work Hardening/ Return to work, Return to homemaking, Activation program, Cognitive Rehab including Concussion therapy, Social thinking, Pediatric speech therapy,including use and programming of various AAC devices and/or materials, Behaviour Intervention.
Work with the provincially funded pilot project Family Connections Centre. This role includes calling the family, scheduling sessions with therapists and attending necessary sessions to support the therapist and child /parent.
Working in this role requires general knowledge of various funders and their specific guidelines
As a Rehab assistant I must maintain an objective role while gaining the trust of my client to benefit their rehabilitation and encourage full participation
I must use my knowledge and experience as well as my personality, to make sure that all parties are having their goals met
I must also be able to collect information and relay it in a clear and concise manner, even when the information may be difficult to collect
