  • Providing subject matter expertise and consultation on infection control activities using the latest scientific evidence from Public Health Ontario/Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee Best Practice documents, with the primary goal of reducing the risk of healthcare-associated infections in long-term care (LTCH), retirement homes (RHs), and other congregate living settings in Mississauga and South Etobicoke.
  • Providing mentorship to facility IPAC leads through onsite assessments, quality improvement initiatives, networking opportunities (e.g., Community of Practice meetings), and education.
  • Developing and presenting ongoing IPAC education (i.e., hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, respiratory pathogens, urinary tract infections, antibiotic-resistant organisms, gastrointestinal infections, bloodborne pathogens, etc.) to staff and residents in care facilities (LTCHs, RHs, group homes, and shelters).
  • Working alongside LTCHs and RHs in their development of IPAC programs, policies, and procedures, in addition to audits and feedback on IPAC programs and practices, which includes providing formal recommendations and supporting the implementation of those recommendations.
