Maelin Jordan

I was hired as a guest experience specialist at Edo Japan. Some of my main duties include:

• Greeting customers enthusiastically and helping them with the menu when needed
• Handling payments
• Preparing food
• Ensuring surfaces were clean and sanitized at all times
• Ensuring general cleanliness and tidiness in the restaurant and working areas
• Working with a team
• Effective communication with both coworkers and customers

Although this was a seasonal position, it was very intricate. The job was split into two positions: campground maintenance and concession work. Because there was a campground and concession to run, and only one employee I had many responsibilities to fulfill as the sole employee.

Weekdays:

• Campground maintenance. This included cleaning up trash, mowing lawns, weed whacking
• Cleaning cabin, camper and AirBnB rentals
• Cleaning washrooms often
• Unloading and organizing stock from freight truck
• Directing campers to campsites and handling payments

Weekends:

• Greeting customers
• Cooking and preparing food for customers
• Ensuring a clean work environment
• Ensuring clean dining environment
• Handling payments
• Assisting in organization and running of big events, such as weddings, softball tournaments and music festivals

As a student, being a summer tour guide was the ideal job. In my second year, I was promoted from Tour Guide to Office Manager. Having performed in multiple positions, I accomplished many skills, such as:

Tour Guide:

• Touring groups of up to 30 people
• Interacting with a diverse clientele
• Ensuring the grounds were kept presentable (maintenance inside and outside)
• Assisting in organizing and running special events
• Practicing and exploring bilingualism
• Training new employees

Office Manager:

• Handling bookings and payments
• Organizing inventory
• Creating detailed spreadsheets and reports on monthly sales
• Scheduling employees

At Friendly's Grocery Co-op, I was a part of the heart of my small town. After working there for five years, I gained and perfected these skills:

Cashier:

• Greeting and interacting with customers on a personal level
• Handling payments
• Unloading and organizing stock
• Ensuring a clean and organized environment for customers

Office Work:

• Recording inventory
• Inputting flyer sales into POS system
