I grew up in a family that strongly emphasized the importance of empathy and equality for all, with my grandmother as an important role model for me. She dedicated her life to teaching children with intellectual and physical disabilities, often sharing with me her experiences and knowledge. It is my dream to help change people’s lives the way she did. After graduating with a B.A. in Pre-Law I decided I wanted to pivot and go into social work, and began to work as a support worker at the mustard seed. Here I learned invaluable techniques in de-escalation, trauma informed care, active listening and compassionate support for vulnerable community members.
