Summary
My name is Mackenzie Chaplin and I am currently working as an Early Childhood Educator. I did this full time for 2.5 years and just recently went down to casual because I want to explore some other options in the child education world. I bring a dynamic approach to fostering emotional growth and social interaction among children, to help better their learning and understanding of the world around them. In 2023, I took my ECE level 1 course online through Sask Polytechnic and passed that to receive a certification. I am leveraging 4+ years of experience in an educational setting working with children ages ranging 3months-10years. I have 7+ years of experience in caring for children, as I started babysitting at age 14. And I also have 3+ years of experience working with a child on the autism spectrum, as I have been a helping hand for her and her family over the past years. I do a very good job at presenting a nurturing attitude and emotional intelligence to create a safe and engaging environment, that promotes child development and creative expression. I like to say when I work with kids, my inner child comes out and I let myself feel free in a way that kids do; that to me is what really makes me a good educator. Grown ups see the world differently; we don’t engage in much play or art as we did as children, and our life experiences altered our view on life. I think children at the end of the day just want to be understood instead of always trying to understand this adult world, and being able to put that grown up me away for a bit and bring the childlike one out, is what I think plays a huge role in the educator I am today. I’m not sure what path exactly I want to pursue, that has always been a tricky question for me to answer, but one thing I do know, is that I shine working with children and I want to use my passion to help shape their futures.
