• Supervise offenders’ activities occurring in facility (e.g., Participation in facility’s programs, food services, games)
• Assume delegated responsibilities for the facility in the absence of administrative staff
• Complete duties, reports and daily logs entries; including preparing written reports regarding incidents, offenders’ behavior, accidents or injuries sustained by staff or offenders
• Communicate and enforce facility’s rules while maintaining discipline and safety
• Follow policies and procedures of Cuthbert House, the Salvation Army and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services
• Assists youth in the development of interpersonal, social and life skills, including the development and facilitation of hands on life skills program
• Provide individual counselling
• Conducts searches of offenders their living areas and the facility property for irregularities and taking appropriate corrective action to maintain security and safety of the facility, offenders and staff
• Deal with serious incidence and crisis in a safe and therapeutic manner
• Refer clients to outside resources and counseling when needed
• Provide supervision and feedback to student placements
• Updating computerized offenders’ management records system, ensuring proper receipt, storage and recording of offenders’ personal property such as clothing within established facility practices, policy, processes and institutional standing order
• Escort residents in a lawful, safe and expedient manner as required ensuring the safety of offenders, staff, visitors and the public
