National Scholastic Arts and Writing Silver Key Award: Winners are chosen through a blind review by industry experts who judge originality/story and technique. Silver Keys are awarded to strong regional submissions, and only around 10% of entries receive this award. I designed and created a dress, spending over 30 hours hand-beading and painting it, to win this award. My piece was a tribute to my "other mother," Alma, who passed away a few weeks before I decided to enter the competition.
