I am an adaptable and analytical individual with strong aptitude for problem-solving and quantitative analysis. I possess an in-depth understanding of statistical methods and financial modeling, along with a proficiency in data analysis and risk assessment. In my current position as a third year Mechanical Engineering student, I also possess a proficiency in engineering design and analysis. I am committed to leveraging my skills to provide valuable insights and support my critical thinking.
I am a third-year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Alberta, aspiring to work as a Professional Engineer or an Actuary with a focus on Casualty Society of Actuaries qualifications. My diverse background in engineering design, actuarial studies, athletics, music, and mentorship has shaped me into a well-rounded, disciplined, and goal-oriented individual.
In the field of engineering, I have developed a proficiency in design and CAD, earning certification as a SOLIDWORKS Associate. These skills, combined with my analytical mindset, have enabled me to excel in technical problem-solving and design challenges. Concurrently, I have pursued my interest in actuarial science, passing the Society of Actuaries Exam FM in August 2023 and Exam P in September 2024. I am currently working toward my Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) credits and completing the Pre-Actuarial Foundations Module. My plan is to write Exam SRM in the summer of 2025, bringing me closer to the Associate of the Society of Actuaries designation. After graduation, I aim to delve into Casualty Society of Actuaries exams to deepen my expertise in the actuarial profession.
Beyond academics, I have a rich history of leadership and community involvement. At Silver Springs Golf and Country Club, I have been an active member since 2011, participating in Junior Nights and mentoring younger golfers. I am proud to have won the Junior Junior Club Championship twice and placed as runner-up in the Junior Club Championship two years in a row. My experience as a high-level ski racer with the Banff Alpine Racers further honed my organizational and teamwork skills. Balancing year-round training with academics taught me time management, discipline, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ski racing also instilled in me a commitment to fitness, confidence in challenging situations, and the ability to adapt to high-pressure environments.
My exposure to music from a young age, including piano (Royal Conservatory), violin, and cello, has been instrumental in shaping my patience, creativity, and attention to detail. Music has taught me to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and approach problems with persistence and care.
I am also recognized as a helpful and approachable individual, often assisting classmates with academic challenges. My ability to balance competitive sports, academics, and extracurricular activities reflects my strong multidisciplinary skills and dedication. I am confident that these qualities, along with my technical expertise and diverse experiences, will allow me to contribute meaningfully to the LMC Group Inc. Community.
