As an Indigenous Anishinaabe person from turtle island, Indigenous knowledge and pedagogy is a part of who I am; I will always infuse this into my future teaching practice. Indigenous knowledge is rooted in the land; the land is where we live, grow, and learn. In teaching students’ fundamental knowledge, to respect and recognize the importance of the land, we are protecting the earth for the future generations. I want to ensure the learning environment is inclusive, equity focused, and includes Indigenous knowledge and pedagogy. I also believe that connections to community are one of the most important things for student learning and it is my hope to encourage community connection.
