Canadian Western Bank’s Anti-Money Laundering initiative had previously developed their Financial Crime Data Hub (FCDH) project which was in need of performance improvements, bug fixing, and new development for reporting purposes. This required planning, solution designing, development and testing based on provided ETL mission BRDs and/or change requests. After solutions were reviewed and approved, SAS job & SQL table development and testing was undergone to perform the extract, transform and load. SAS Data Integration Studio was the tool used to extract from the SQL Server data warehouse, transform the data to meet mission requirements, and load it into the reporting/analytics database. The Flawless Execution methodology was used during all mission lifecycles. Responsibilities:

• Review mission BRD with entire team to address concerns or questions.
• Develop PowerPoint mission plan and solution design for the mission. Review and get manager approval for development to begin.
• Based on mapping document, begin SAS job development to extract from data warehouse & data mart sources and transform as necessary with standards in place to optimize job performance. Create efficient load jobs that align with the specified targets and preserve historical data.
• Develop stored procedure unit tests that cover business process scenarios, then perform any fixes till cases pass reliably in dev & test environments. Inform Quality Assurance team that their tests can be run.
• Fix any defects reported from the reporting team or CWB business users. Pass along to QA team upon development and unit testing, with final validations from the reporting team.
• Sync project DB environments via Visual Studio Team Foundation Server and prepare a migration document for SAS admins to deploy new/updated jobs to production.
  

In this 3-month contract with the Government of Alberta, all data profiling was completed for the Community & Social Services Research & Analysis Project to improve data governance. The project involved weekly updates on the progress of data pulls for table metadata statistics, column profiling, and data dictionary updates. Responsibilities:

• SQL queries in SSMS were used to extract metadata information on each FACT and DIM table in the data warehouse.
• Queries were written and executed to pull table-specific metadata, such as yearly averages for completed surveys.
• SQL query data pulls were used to compose column profiling, e.g., column data types, column descriptions, percentages of null values in columns.
• Data dictionary updates were made after data profiling steps were reviewed by senior analyst. This involved listing column’s names, descriptions, types, sources, etc.

Syscon Justice Systems’ iSAFE project entailed a full implementation of a solution that migrated the Government of South Australia’s SSMS data warehouse to a new Postgres database product supplied by Fujitsu. Pentaho DI transformations and jobs were developed to extract and transform the data based on mapping specifications but testing and load procedures were to be completed by the Syscon internally. The project entailed development of an offender management system, with highly sensitive data, so both an Alberta and South Australia background check were required. Responsibilities:

• Pentaho Data Integration was used to transform existing client table structures to align with the new DB’s staging table designs.
• Analysis of the current client DB was necessary before attempting to transform or extract client data. This involved query iterations to gather the correct data based on mapping sessions.
• Note-taking during ‘Mapping session’ meetings was done to assist in creating clear ETL specifications.
• Weekly team check-in and sync-up meetings for project completion tracking.
• Additional Challenge: the creation and setup of two separate Oracle and Postgres AWS database instances for future testing and new-hire skill development purposes. This challenge was assigned and completed while access to the sensitive data sources was being issued.

Fifteen-month contract through Synthesis Systems Inc. as a Data Analyst for Intuit Canada, Edmonton office. Run Oracle PL/SQL scripts to optimize Production and Pre-Production (End-to-End Testing) databases based on Jira ticket assignments. Java code work done with IntelliJ IDEA and work consisted of code improvements to resolve CRM access related defects. Working remotely in Edmonton but in constant communication with team via Slack, Zoom and MS Outlook. Agile methodology was used throughout the project. Responsibilities:

• Based on Jira ticket requests: Run PL/SQL queries for analysis. E.g. Analyze customer payments for month end reconciliation. Run PL/SQL queries for data pulls. E.g. Data pulls for Intuit CA & UK subject access requests (SAR) or for auditing purposes.
• Write Change Request deployment scripts for insert, update, & deletes to be run in collaboration with database administrators.
• Java code improvements for account management services (AMS) to perform correct account creation/unlocking/locking/deleting actions or user group allocation in regards to CRM with AppStream interface user access.
• Amazon Web Services configuring and maintaining for Intuit CA and UK databases (Integra ICIS project).
• Collaboration with Finance team for month end reporting of Canada and UK customer payments. (SAP Business Objects and Qlik reporting tools)
• Daily virtual standup meetings, and regular sprint startups, reviews, & retrospectives.

Part-time technical support and administrative tasks for head office operations provided during postsecondary. Responsibilities:

• Smart Hub setup and configuration for head office network.
• Necessary support for technical issues and device configurations.

Summer internship through Synthesis Systems Inc as a Data Analyst for Intuit Canada, Edmonton office. Wrote Oracle PL/SQL queries for data analysis, defect triaging, and data pulls set by Jira ticket specifications. Used Microsoft Excel to create reports based on analysis of gathered data from Intuit CA and Intuit UK. Agile methodology was used throughout the project. Responsibilities:

• Daily virtual standup meetings, and regular sprint startups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Run the necessary queries from Intuit CA and Intuit UK databases to obtain the needed data to perform analysis in MS Excel.
• Data analysis of Intuit products and subscription details for finance team based on Jira item specifications.
• Data analysis for proof of concept assignments based on specifications.
• Cleanup and organization of project documentation in Confluence to align with business standards.
• Administrative tasks such as mailing merchandise to US and Canadian Intuit employees.

Performed all tasks related to installing and finishing drywall including taping, bead coating, skim coating, and sanding. Maintained safe and clean work areas and worked extended hours. Responsibilities:

• Mixing of WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material Information System) products, including Synko and CertainTeed drywall compounds.
• Necessary measuring and cutting procedures for drywall installation.
• Cutting and prefilling butt-joints procedure following drywall installation.
• Tape application and tape coating, along with screw filling and coating.
• Sanding and light-checkout process for final finish.
• Scrape existing ceiling texture for flat ceilings or new texture.
