Summary

I have been learning computer science for four years through a tutor and self-taught. In the past, I have built a few computer apps myself. Most recently is a multiplayer card game using unity. I'm looking for workplace experience where I can develop my skills.

  • The app is a simple math app for my brothers to help them learn math at home during the pandemic. This app is my first time making an app, which made me tackle a few problems dividing up the components and how to use different grids to make the app look professional. After that, I redesigned it and learned to separate the code for a more logical flow, shifting the way I code toward object-oriented code-based. All of this adds up to my front-end coding skills.

Unity Card Game

  • Using my summer, I built a simple card game through Unity. I was curious about how multiplayer works, so I decided to make a multiplayer card game. As I worked on the game, I learned how to use Unity and the fundamental process of building a multiplayer game. Specifically using photon to host a server for players, it also lets them host their own room game and other people to join in. Not only that, I learnt how to assign turns and instantiate room objects and player objects as well.

  • I am currently working on an iOS app that I hope will help people make friends easier in school. It's an app that suggests you a picture prompt every day, so you could use it to talk to strangers. It's created to promote real-life interaction with real people so you could make more lifelong relationships. Through making the app, I learned how to cache images with KingFisher to reduce data requests on the server. I also know how to make animation and interactive user interface. Importantly, managing cloud data for the user database with Google Firebase.
