Over the last five years, I have gained a wide variety of fieldwork experience working with children of all ages, starting as early as TK all the way through 8th grade in both classroom and one-on-one personal support settings. My tasks include leading classrooms of 20–30 students on my own and creating and applying lesson plans. That overall supported the children in their academic, cognitive, and social development through the many activities that I have led. These activities were created to promote the children’s learning through educational games, interactive activities, and hands-on and visual activities that will keep the children’s interest and also encourage teamwork and problem-solving skills. To add, I worked closely with students with various learning needs, including children with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), as well as students with mental trauma and physical disabilities. I wanted to make sure all students in my care were comfortable and welcomed, so adapting the instruction to ensure this was key.
I am very passionate about working with children and love what I do. I plan to pursue a career as a child and adolescent therapist to ensure that all children are seen and heard. To add, my work involves creating and keeping communication with families and my coworkers to ensure student success. I conducted parent meetings to discuss behavioral issues and created personalized behavior plans. I made this a priority because of the fact that I wanted to assure guardians I am motivated to keep their child's success within my care. I created a positive and safe classroom environment by making sure I was applying classroom management skills and applying the safety procedures I was taught. My certifications in Adult CPR/AED, Pediatric CPR, and First Aid helped me to respond appropriately in emergency situations and protect the well-being of all students under my care.
