  • Gained experience sampling fish, setting/pulling multi-mesh gillnets, conducting nocturnal bird surveys, tagging geese and sturgeon, all through participating in projects for both Wildlife and Fisheries.
  • Worked with a team of Manitoba Fisheries Biologists and Technicians to tag, collect data about and release sturgeon, to aid in visualization of the population.
  • Assisted with recording water quality through the collection of Secchi data.
  • Took the lead entering historical sample data for the NW Fisheries branch using Excel.
  • Aided in collecting samples for Chronic Wasting Disease testing from moose.
  • Performed nocturnal bird surveys, contributed to final project summary and entered the data into Excel.

Project management and Communication. 

  • Lead the digitization of historical Coordinated Aquatic Monitoring Program (CAMP) data for the regional Fisheries biologist using Excel.
  • Completed two CAMP programs along side commercial fisherman, Manitoba Fisheries Biologists and a Multi Tech, while working from a remote field camp.
  • Aided with the delivery of presentations to raise awareness of government research projects and inform students about local wildlife.
  • Set budgets, aided in planning and advertising of student events including, the first annual Indigenous Student Awards Gala, guest speakers for the Weather Club and several SESES events.


Analysis and Writing 

  • Gained experience with writing reports in Environmental Critical Thinking and Scientific Research (GEOG 2810) and in a laboratory setting with Introduction To Chemical Techniques (CHEM 1120).
  • Collected climate data from open source cites including NASA and the City Of Winnipeg and analyzed it using Excel to gain a better understanding of the data and visualized the data in a thematically significant way using ArcGIS.
