RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

  • 2014 Pharmaceutical Chemistry 130B, UCD; Dr. Dean Tantillo. Davis, CA, 2014. For this research project, I learned to use computational tools for drug design such as Gaussian, Gaussview 09, Fred Receptor, Fred Open Eye Command, VIDA, ROCS, OMEGA, vbroad, SciFinder, Filter, PyMOL, and ChemBioDraw. I researched the penicillin drug family and then developed my own antibiotic by using computational tools. A literature report and a final scientific article was written about this research.
  • 2013 Statistics For Bioscientists 100A, UCD; Dr. Hao Chen. Davis, CA, 2013. I researched the Possum data set by using R statistical computations. My research question was to find the ratio of female to male possums captured per location. I learned to do Chi-Square test and Regression line tests with the possum data by using R software. I wrote a paper about my statistical analysis on possum data.
  • 2013 Biochemistry 103, UCD; Dr. Holland Chang. Davis, CA, 2013. Our research project was to use PyMOL to analyze the protein structure of a serine protease, urokinase-type plasminogen activator activator (uPA). From this analysis, I wrote a paper where I discussed my examinations of the protein structure using biochemistry terminology and concepts.
  • 2012 Cell & Molecular Biology, Butte College; Instructor Suzanne Wakim, Oroville, CA. Four classmates, and I conducted research on human urine as a tomato plant fertilizer which was compared to generic plant fertilizer. A literature report was written and we presented our research to the class.
