Work History

Assistant Director

The Old Globe Theater
San Diego
07.2024 - 08.2025
  • My job was multi-faceted in communicating mainly with the actors, the director, and the stage management team. These were most of my duties:
  • I would give notes and ask specific, clarifying questions about the acting, blocking, physicality, props, lighting, costumes, sound, music, and set in the context of a scene or a span of scenes, specifically describing the volume, placement, feeling, safety, time-efficiency, effectiveness, and continuity, or lack thereof, along with specific ways of utilizing all of that to better enhance a moment and the story overall. My notes were mainly given to the director, then eventually straight to the actors, and occasionally in production meetings.
  • Often, I also relayed notes to others from the director; whenever I relayed notes to actors, I often worked or talked them through it, depending on what the actor needed at the time; however, I mostly encouraged them to trust themselves.
  • I took notes for the director, checked sight lines, reminded her of sections she wanted to work through, and brainstormed ideas to address certain aspects of the show and performance.
  • I would often conduct dramaturgy research for the actors. For example, it was often regarding physicality, properties they handled, and what they might have written in a specific scenario, as well as what systems and organizations existed at the time, etc. and then talked them through how to best incorporate this into their work.
  • I would use my observations to understand how people best worked, so that I could relay information to them in the most efficient way, and assist in facilitating us all working together.

Professional Fellow

New Village Arts Theater
12.2024 - 06.2025
  • I was a choreography fellow, which meant that I worked as a choreographer on one of their musicals: La Havana, Madrid.
  • I also devised an original piece, "For The Loved Ones," that was performed at the theater at the end of my fellowship. I found all of the creatives with whom I worked. I sourced all the music and worked with an editor to arrange it; I directed actors to record voice-overs of original spoken word pieces; I choreographed and devised some with the dancers I cast, as well as directed the dancers in rehearsed improvisational dance. I handled all of the stage management paperwork and calls up until the technical rehearsal. I worked with a lighting designer, costume designer, music arranger, stage manager (who cued the show), marketing, management, and staff of the theater to create this show.
  • I spent most of my other hours on professional development, working on skills and tools that would enhance and create a foundation for my career, such as website building and practicing my craft. I would also take the time to explore other art and find ways to incorporate elements of it into my practice.
  • I went to theatrical productions and networked within the community.
  • I met with other fellows every other week to support one another.
  • I met with my mentor, Delicia Turner-Sonnenberg, about every month, and communicated with her quite frequently. I spent hours going to rehearsals with my mentor to observe, and later discuss. I accompanied her to graduate student design classes to further learn how directors interact with designers and the process a designer goes through to come up with a product.

Dance Instructor

San Diego Heartlight
San Diego
04.2022 - 06.2022
  • I would teach elementary students, Pre-K to 5th grade, at different schools in the San Diego Unified School District. The class consisted of warm-up, prizes, teaching choreography with names, and always ended in positive affirmations.
  • I was responsible for picking up kids, managing the room, helping them stay on task, and creating a positive environment with boundaries.
  • Often, I work in a team with one, sometimes two, other people, depending on the school and how many kids there are, varying from up to 50 down to 12. The work environment encouraged one teacher to support another and vice versa, depending on who was leading the piece we practiced that day.
  • We took them to perform at the Del Mar Fair. I was responsible for aligning the kids and leading them in dances.

Guest Dancer

H2O Dance Company
San Diego
01.2019 - 03.2019
  • The founder hired me to perform in a production named PATHWAYS.
  • We performed on the evenings of March 23rd and 24th at the White Box Live Arts Theatre in Liberty Station.

Sales and Administrative Work

Abundant Health LLC - Saladmaster
San Diego
10.2013 - 08.2018
  • Sales demonstrations at the Del Mar expo (spoke to market our service), accompanied sales associates at trade shows, made cold calls, and performed clerical duties such as filing, data entry into a CRM system, and inventory. I helped set up for our once-a-week open house: sweeping, decorating, organizing the raffle, setting up chairs, prepping sign-in sheets, name tags, and greeting customers, and assisted chefs in dinner shows, as well as customer follow-up.
