Working closely with the Board of Directors built a modern not- for -profit, organization with charitable status to deliver training and advocacy to reduce injuries and fatalities in three program areas, Traffic Safety, Occupational Health and Safety and Community Safety. Built strong partnerships with organizations and groups with similar mandates to coordinate efforts including Newfoundland Labrador Injury Prevention Coalition, The Brain Injury Association, Canadian Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, Bicycle NL, Municipalities Newfoundland Labrador and others to reduce injuries and fatalities in NL. Strategic planning, budget planning, managing a staff of 36 employees, and 4 franchise operations in NL. Managing the Social Enterprise business model to provide health and safety advocacy to individuals and groups province wide. Maintaining a fleet of driver education vehicles in the province and an office building and classroom.

Responsible for the Emergency Management and National Security Branch of Emergency Preparedness Canada. With a staff of 9 to administer the National Emergency Response Plan by providing federal support to the province of NL related to training and response to events that exceeded the provinces capability to respond. The RD was the link to the government operation center in Ottawa. Administered the disaster financial assistance arrangements to compensate the province to restore damages to pre disaster condition. Administered the Joint Emergency Preparedness Policy. Presented at the Emergency Preparedness College, Arnprior and Ottawa and Memorial University of NL on emergency related responses and programs. Developed the Regional Emergency Management Group in NL with Federal departments to provide planning and support to the province of NL. Participated the International Emergency Management Group with the Atlantic Provinces and the US to remove barriers to assist in emergency response. Worked on the Manitoba Flood, the Saguenay Flood, Quebec Ice Storm, the Swiss Air Crash, 9/11 and the events in NL from 1995 until 2010. Worked with the Algerian Interior Ministry on emergency planning as the member representing Emergency Preparedness Canada in conjunction with Canadians representing the RCMP, Foreign Affairs, and Canadian Forces. Planned and executed several exercises to evaluate emergency management capabilities in the province, nationally and internationally.

As an inspector worked at Gander International Airport to check for illegal entry of products of the soil, meat products and other restricted entry items. Enforced the Humane Slaughter of Animal Act and Regs, Inspected at registered processing plants for poultry, hogs, and beef in Atlantic Canada. Inspected foreign vessels to enforce legislation governing the disposal of waste products.

Started the first recognized Newfoundland Labrador Special Olympics swimming program in St. John's followed by a second club in Grand Falls NL as a volunteer.
