All cases in the Ontario courts start with the Justices of the Peace. We deal with adjournments, speak to matters, case management, search warrants, production orders, bail hearings, peace bonds, child apprehension warrants, and all provincial matters.
Accepted cases from the Office of the Children's Lawyer regarding custody and access disputes
Three month intensive investigation wherein all parties were interviewed (mother, father, all children, police, Children's Aid Societies, doctors, counsellors, psychiatrists)
Observation visits with each parent and the child(ren)
Private interviews (two) with each child(ren)
Upon completion of the investigation a well documented report is completed and a meeting is held with both parents and their lawyers. Reports included recommendations regarding custody and access. The reports were then forwarded to the courts for review by Family Court Judges
