Anesthesia services provided in an independent practice setting for Rancho Mirage Surgery Center, Eye Surgery Center of the Desert, The Plastic Surgery Institute, Aurora Surgery Center, and the Cosmetic Surgery Institute of Palm Desert.

Cases in these locations include: cosmetic surgery, urology, pediatrics, ENT, general surgery, endoscopy, oculoplastics, cataracts requiring peribulbar blocks, and orthopedics.

Other responsibilities include: Leadership/Management services for Mission Anesthesia Inc in four local surgery centers (Mirage Endoscopy Center, Eye Surgery Center of the Desert, Cosmetic Surgery Institute, and Rancho Mirage Surgery Center), including staffing and scheduling, employee management, chart review/peer review, billing assistance, preoperative assessment for patient optimization/perioperative readiness, and functioning as a liaison between surgeons, CRNA staff, and Mission Anesthesia Inc Leadership.

Anesthesia services provided in an independent practice setting for El Mirador Surgery Center. Cases at this busy, high-volume facility include Opthalmology, General, Endoscopy, Orthopedics, Urology, Benign Gynecology, and ENT.

UCSF is an urban tertiary health care system encompassing 4 different campuses (Parnassus, Mission Bay, Mt. Zion, and the Orthopedic Institute) where on average 60,000 cases requiring anesthesia are performed every year. In my role as Chief CRNA, I was responsible for the following :

• Practice Leader for 68 CRNAs
• Liaison between UCSF CRNAs, MD faculty, nurses, and support staff
• Formulated monthly CRNA schedule using Qgenda
• Manage all CRNA PTO/ leave assuring staffing requirements are met
• Formulated annual CRNA performance evaluations
• On-boarding of all new CRNAs including reviewing resumes, interviewing, decision to hire, and facilitating orientation upon hire.
• Conflict management involving CRNAs and other UCSF staff
• Organizing and facilitating CRNA staff meetings to maintain open communication, and allow for continuous Quality Improvement.
• Collaboration with the Director of Advanced Practice Providers to assure visibility and inclusion of CRNAs throughout the Health System, including being the first CRNA member of the APP advisory board.
• Participated in important UCSF Department of Anesthesia and UCSF Medical Center meetings including Joint Clinical Services, Quality Improvement, Committee of Interdisciplinary Practice, Perioperative Pathways Core Workgroup, and AHP advisory board meetings
• Collaborated with Samuel Merritt University to facilitate clinical rotations for Nurse Anesthesia Residents, in addition to serving as UCSF's first Clinical Coordinator for the University.
• Formulated the first CRNA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee at UCSF, which provided resources and support for under-represented and minority staff.
• Formulated annual Incentive Award Program goals for the CRNA group
• Provided mentorship for ICU RNs in preparation for CRNA program application, as well as for potential candidates/applicants.
• Management of a large group of medical professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

• Care for indigent and underserved population of Alameda County
• Cases included but were not limited to: ENT, Trauma, Obstetrics, General, Vascular, Orthopedic, organ donation, Neurologic, and Thoracic.
  

• Anesthesia care provided for the adult operating rooms and procedural areas at four UCSF campus locations
• ASA status I-V and Emergency cases
• Proficient with peripheral, arterial, and central line placement, advanced airway techniques, and neuraxial anesthesia (thoracic and lumbar)
• Cases performed include but are not limited to: Complex Opthalmic and Maxillofacial cases, Kidney and Pancreas Transplants, General surgery, Gynecological (Benign and Onc), Vascular, Complex Neuro/Ortho Spine, Craniotomies (awake and asleep), Various Robotic Surgeries, ENT, MRI/CT, EP lab, Neuroangiography, ERCP, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, Urology, Breast, Pediatric, Fetal, and Plastic Reconstruction surgery.

Residency included:

• Training with Human Simulation and Anesthesia Crisis Resource Management.
• 8 different clinical sites with diverse clinical exposure including trauma, general, regional, pediatric, cardiac, obstetrics, organ donation, and pain management patient populations.
