I completed my elementary, middle, and high school education in Guangzhou. During high school, I excelled in table tennis and reached a semi-professional level. Motivated by my passion for the sport, I worked as a part-time table tennis coach at the Guangzhou TianDong Table Tennis Club. This experience taught me the importance of patience, effective teaching methods, and how to motivate students to improve their skills.
After graduating from high school with strong academic performance, I successfully gained admission to the University of British Columbia (UBC). While pursuing my studies, I actively engaged in part-time jobs to gain practical experience and develop a diverse skill set.
One such role was as an audio salesperson at a Sony flagship store in Guangzhou. This job provided me with comprehensive knowledge of audio products, including their specifications, features, and applications. I learned to analyze customer preferences, tailor recommendations, and build lasting relationships with clients. Additionally, I developed advanced sales techniques, such as establishing rapport, demonstrating product value, and closing sales effectively. This role also helped me refine my customer service skills, including addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and ensuring after-sales satisfaction. By collaborating with my team to achieve sales targets and organize promotional events, I gained a deeper appreciation for teamwork and communication in a professional setting.
During my freshman summer vacation, I worked as a waiter at Hongxing Restaurant in Guangzhou. This position enhanced my customer service and communication skills while teaching me strategies to attract and retain customers, such as maintaining a welcoming demeanor and providing personalized service.
In my sophomore summer vacation, I worked as a tutor at New Oriental Education Institution in Guangzhou. This role not only strengthened my ability to communicate effectively but also taught me the importance of being responsible and detail-oriented. For students with weaker academic foundations, I adopted an encouraging teaching approach, which significantly improved their performance. Witnessing their progress gave me a sense of accomplishment and further solidified my passion for teaching and mentoring.
