• Cares for post cardiac catheterization and post open-heart surgery.

• Recognizes and cares for many cardiac health issues like Congestive Heart Failure and Coronary Artery Disease.

• Performs hourly rounding on patients.

• Reviews patients plan of care to further understand and improve the patients care.

• Understands and can interrupt cardiac rhythm strips.

• Works together with doctors and other patient care team members to give the patient the best possible care.

• Communicates the patients needs and situation with the doctors.

• Performs assessments on patients at least three times a shift and does hourly rounds in patient care.

• Reviews patient plan of care and gains knowledge of the patients current condition.

• Receives and gives bedside SBAR report to oncoming and off going shift.

• Responds appropriately if the patient is in a urgent or emergency situation.

• Oversees and reviews patients medication and using the five rights when passing medication.

• Works with doctors, charge nurse and monitor observer, when patient is telemetry, in the patients care.

• Supervised clinical staff to ensure compliance with care standards and protocols.
• Reviews and develops care plans for assigned patients.
• Identifies strengths and weaknesses of nursing care systems.
• Supervises care given by LVN's and CNA's.
• Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and shows a fundamental understanding of its implications.
• Reports abnormal findings and critical information to the physician.
• Responds appropriately in urgent and/or emergency situations.
• Oversees the care of all patients, a 99 bed facility, during shift.
• Monitors Intravenous (IV) sites, both peripheral sites and peripherally inserted central catheters and Administers IV medications through these sites.
