- Families needed support and research-based knowledge during the first 3-5 years concerning their child's development and mental wellbeing

- I started researching and came across Seneca's Graduate Certificate in Infant and Early Child Mental Health
- Not even a global pandemic could keep me from completing this certificate! In May 2020, I graduated with honors from the IMH program, and with the knowledge and ability to do the following:️ Assess symptoms of mental health to respond effectively to infants, children, and families
- Design strategies to foster safe and healthy environments for infants, children, and families
- Identify services, supports, and counseling to educate parents and caregivers
- Design advocacy and educational initiatives to support ethical practice, care, and treatment based on jurisdictional principles
- Collaborate on an interdisciplinary team to serve the mental health needs of the community
- Design health promotion initiatives and programs to reduce stigma of infant, children, and family mental health and protect human rights
- Analyse the importance of the social determinants of health for health policy, service delivery, and practice
- The IMH program at Seneca is the only of its kind in the country, and the field itself is still rather new
- I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to complete this graduate certificate before pursuing my next graduate degree in Counseling Psychology as it gave me an even stronger foundational knowledge of early human behavior and development which I can now share with the families I would eventually support
