Work History

Carpenter Apprentice

Bay West Contracting
02.2023 - 08.2023

  • Gained valuable education in residential and commercial building codes.
  • Followed protocols and stayed organized to provide personal and teammate safety.
  • Removed existing walls and installed engineered beams at 25 feet. Good communication and teamwork is the only way to get a job like this done, especially when were hand lifting beams using pullies and man power.
  • Read and interpreted blueprints and construction documents to determine project directives.
  • Operated forklifts, Zoom Booms, Bobcats Excavators and other heavy equipment.
  • Inspected buildings to identify repair needs.
  • Built a cantilevered deck from prefab steel beams. Dug out footings and layed concrete by hand because of remote location. Installed Vertical beams as a team because excessive weight, using pulleys and man power was the only option.
  • Installed new windows, rebuild old window boxes where necessary, and installed windows in new window boxes when necessary. Instating Vapor Barrier and WAter/Moisture control was our responsibility as well, the remote location gave us all the responsibilities normally left to the sub trades.
  • Installed new sheet metal roof on the new expansions of the building. Repaired the existing sheet metal roof where possible.
  • I was personally in charge of the building envelope after framing. Sheathing, Home Wrap, Bug Screen, Strapping for siding install prep.

Carpenters Apprentice

Ketza Pacific Construction
02.2020 - 06.2022
  • Planned and executed work with proper tools and materials to maximize efficiency.
  • Shaped or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines and power saws.
  • Interpreted blueprints and instructions to meet exact construction specifications.
  • Building the Parkade and Mezzanine for apartment buildings and professional buildings, we would start with hardscaping, and grid layout. Once the grid was layed out we would start putting in footings and foundations. Next we would build the forms for the walls, from 3 to 30 feet. Installing all required supports (pins, structural lumber and braces) to prevent blowouts once the pouring starts.
  • After the walls and columns are up we proceed with slab on grade. After the slab on grade in cured and finished we proceed with building the supports for the suspended slab.
  • This requires good communication and an organized foreman to keep the crew safe at heights, and prevent people from rushing as this process presents a high level of pinch points to easily affect time loss injury.
  • I ran the Zoom Boom and Bobcat almost every day, racking up a good amount of experience. AS well as the Mini Excavator.
  • Other Projects with Ketza Included Building a Dam Upgrade for B.C. hydro in Sayward B.C.
  • Repairing a Collapsed suspended slab on the 3rd storey of an 8 storey building.

  • Conducted regular patrols of site to maintain safety in areas of the site under new construction, constantly installing and moving control zones on high level decks to ensure maximum safety.
  • Ran safety meetings once a week or when necessary with the foremen of all the sub trades on site. WIth up to 200 men on site at any given time, coordinating with the foremen and following through with safety orders is absolutely necessary to keep a safe site.
  • Kept and organized office with all the paper work for site orientation, and to make sure that the men working at heights have fall pro, and that the men running machines have their tickets and experience.
  • Whenever I was caught up in the office and the site was up to safety standards, I would join in whatever project the rest of the team had on the go.
  • Analyzed and investigated incidents alongside functional management and security supervisors.
  • Gathered information, identified, and implemented resolution, planned follow-up and logged and filed incident report to successfully manage close calls and safety concerns.
  • Conducted training sessions for new personnel to facilitate compliance with safety protocols.
