Accomplishments
I had the opportunity to build my own home through the Coachella Valley Housing Coalition, which is a non profit agency that assists low income families achieve their dream of home ownership.
I assisted in establishing the Desert Region Friday Night Live Program. Under my direction and leadership, the program grew from its startup of 14 school sites to 40 throughout the Coachella Valley and surrounding areas; serving thousands of youth from elementary to high school and their families by promoting healthy lifestyles free of substance abuse.
Created the Friday Night Live Desert Youth Council consisting of students from15-20 high schools who act as youth advocates. As their mentor, and facilitator I trained them on topics that concern that affects youth, such as teen suicide, texting & driving, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, bullying, and public speaking skills. They make presentations at local community and statewide workshops, conferences, schools and city council meetings. They are trained to understand policies and procedures, to assist their peers and intern with staff to prepare for college and the workforce.
Organized and conducted the first Prescription Drug Pill Take-Back program in the Coachella Valley.
