Summary

I am an Active-Duty U.S. Army Logistics Officer with a proven track record of performance across multiple formations, including EAB, ABCT, and DSCA-enabling units. My career reflects a progressive series of leadership and staff roles at the tactical and operational levels—from leading cargo transfer operations as a Platoon Leader to serving as a Battalion S-4, AS3, and now a Forward Support Company Commander. I have directly contributed to high-impact missions such as the Defense CBRN Response Force (DCRF), Joint Readiness Exercise (JRE) 20-05, Joint Logistics Over the Shore (JLOTS), and two National Training Center (NTC) rotations supporting offense, defense, and RSOI operations. These experiences have honed my ability to plan, synchronize, and execute sustainment operations in complex environments, while building teams that thrive under pressure and deliver results.

Observing Tactical and Technical Operations

The OC/T monitors everything the FSC does from the moment they draw equipment during RSOI (Reception, Staging, Onward Movement, and Integration) to their final tactical movements in "the Box" (NTC’s live-fire and maneuver training area). They evaluate:

  • Logistics Delivery: How efficiently the FSC distributes Classes of Supply—mainly Class I (food/water), Class III (fuel), and Class V (ammunition)—via Logistical Assaults or Tailgate Resupply.
  • Field Maintenance: The speed, safety, and tactical positioning of the Field Maintenance Platoon (FMP) and Maintenance Support Teams (MSTs) as they recover and fix downed combat vehicles under simulated fire.
  • Mission Command: The FSC Commander’s and Executive Officer’s ability to run the Combat Trains Command Post (CTCP) or Field Trains Command Post (FTCP) and maintain a continuous logistics status (LOGSTAT) map.

OC/Ts do not just watch units fail; they step in at doctrinally appropriate times to mentor.

  • They act as a sounding board for the FSC leadership, offering insights on doctrine (like ATP 4-90) and sharing lessons learned from previous rotations.
  • They help the unit troubleshoot real-time friction points, such as fixing broken PACE plans (Communications plans) or improving their perimeter defense and camouflage discipline against the NTC's aggressive Opposing Force (OPFOR).

The cornerstone of an NTC trainer's job is facilitating discovery-based learning.

  • Instead of lecturing the unit on what they did wrong, the trainer uses data, timelines, and digital tracking systems to lead the FSC through an After Action Review (AAR).
  • The trainer guides the company's soldiers and leaders to realize their own mistakes, identify systemic bottlenecks in their supply chain, and develop concrete fixes for the next battle period.

Operating heavy tactical vehicles, fuel tankers, and recovery assets in the rugged terrain of the Mojave Desert is inherently dangerous.

  • The Trainer serves as the primary safety officer on the ground, ensuring operations are executed without casualties or major accidents while preserving the intense realism of the training scenario.
  • They administer the rules of engagement for MILES (laser training gear) and simulate casualties, forcing the FSC to practice medical evacuations (MEDEVAC) and mass-casualty scenarios.

He reminds me daily of the importance of perseverance, integrity, and legacy. In my personal time, I value activities that promote growth, resilience, and connection—including physical fitness, hiking, traveling, reading, and investing in quality time with family. These pursuits keep me grounded and sharpen my ability to lead Soldiers with purpose and compassion.
