Summary

Dependable Systems technician with 20+ years experience in a technical role. During my 14 years at Kingston Frontenac Public Library I patched and maintained endpoints with various RMM and MDM tools. I created, maintained and deployed images for multiple machines with many different operating systems using a vast array of tools. Also played a helpdesk role assisting all levels of staff with their technical issues. I am seeking to further my career and grow with The City of Kingston as an IS&T Service Desk Analyst.

  • Assisted with migration and adoption of M365. Deployed Office suite, and assisted all levels of staff through this transition. Managing through Entra, Intune, Exchange, Teams, Onedrive Admin panels. Currently preparing the rollout of Windows 11
  • Manage user desk phones through a Mitel Phone system. (Assigning extensions, resetting mailboxes, programming hotkeys etc.)
  • Manage staff access swipe cards through Entrapass / Kantech door systems.
  • Deployed and Manage endpoint management solution over multiple sites and networks (ManageEngine Desktop Central UEM). Also included ManageEngine MDM and migrated our fleet of iPads and all assets from the old MDM (Apple profile manage). After deploying, it greatly reduced repetitive tasks and tedious patching of systems.
  • Installed Bitwarden on an Ubuntu Docker server and migrated the data from our old TeamPass server.
  • Built a child domain controller using Windows Server 2016 to help manage Public PCs using Active Directory and vast array of Group Policies.
  • Setup VDI solution for our public catalogue computers. Also experimented with replacing public Internet stations at one of our branches with VDI and a cloud desktop.
  • Created, deployed and maintained images for all of KFPL's PCs ranging from staff stations to public PC's. I've made images for the following operating systems: Windows 7, 10, 11 and Ubuntu. Using various imaging software throughout the years (Manage Engine OS Deployer, ImageX, DISM, Systems, WISM, Macrium Reflect, Clonezilla and Norton Ghost)
  • Planned and arranged many Desktop PC Rollouts. Staff and Public PC's, three generations of equipment and rolled out to multiple branches.
  • Setup Apple Profile Manager MDM on a MacMini to manage fleet of iPads. Installed nice and neat into a cart. Apple Configurator 2 was used to configure the iPads locally. These iPads were for staff use and some dedicated for public use (typically for children's learning programs).
  • Assisted in the management of 30+ Virtual servers running on VMWare ESXi with various Operating Systems such as: Windows Server 2003, 2008R2, 2012, 2012R2, 2016, 2019, 2022 and Every LTS Ubuntu Server from 12.04 to current.
  • Assisted in the hardware installation of Rack mount UPS's, Servers, Stacks of switches, firewalls. Installed various different types of cable management for a nice and clean rack of switches & patch panels.
  • Assist all levels of staff via telephone, e-mail, chat, various ticketing systems (currently HALO), remotely and in person in a mixed domain environment with a large variety of hardware and software such as: WiFi, Networking, Printing 2D & 3D, E-Mail, Multiple Office Suites, Network Shares, Active Directory, Group Policy and more.
