Work History

Apprentice Electrician

South Country Power
08.2025 - Current

I was offered a chance at a new career, so I decided to give it a try.

  • Installed conduit systems effectively for better wire protection, contributing to overall system longevity and reliability.
  • Kept tools and materials organized, contributing to a clean and safe work area for all team members throughout each project''s duration.
  • Learned and followed latest electrical codes and regulations to
  • Lots of extensive hard labor, like laying pipe in trenches in feedlots, running large factory main wires through underground pipes for feedmills.
  • I worked mostly 12-hour days, 5 days a week. So long as long hours or having to work weekends is no issue, as in my prior job, I worked weekends.

RV Technician

Prairie Sky RV
09.2012 - 08.2025
  • I quit after receiving an offer to work in Electrical. I was no longer happy with the environment and the way management was taking the company, and I decided I would like to try something new.
  • Assisted management in developing preventative maintenance schedules for clients'' RVs, ensuring longevity of their vehicles'' lifecycle.
  • I was the main tech to do all insurance work on trailers. I did the full roof replacements from hail/damage claims by myself, removing everything off the roof, side trim, peeling off material, gluing down new material, and reinstalling/resealing. The average time a roof on, say, a 40-ft Columbus would take is 25 to 30 hours.
  • I was also the main tech to do all tin replacements, which, other than the top and sometimes bottom full-length pieces, I would do alone as well. An average-sized trailer to do the front, back, and one full side would usually take me 24 to 30 hours.
  • Installed newly purchased equipment in recreational vehicles. I have done a lot of solar installs, satellite dishes, inverter systems, custom woodwork.
  • Performed preventive maintenance work on all parts of the trailer.
  • Repacked bearings, replaced hubs, backing plates.
  • Winterizing and dewinterizing a trailer.
  • Hitch installs and setups on customer vehicles.
  • Doing PDI's on new and used trailers at a fast speed, but not overlooking any safety issues or things I know a customer would complain about.
  • Pretty much all aspects of the trade I have a good handle on. My weaknesses in the trade would be more on the diagnosing of, say, a faulty leveling system or a firefly board in a touch monitor. Mostly, things that we had more specialized techs in that area do, and I would focus more on the structural, install, and PDI side of things.
  • Due to being a single owner of a house with car payments and life, etc., there really was no easy way for me to move to Calgary for three months and take the schooling. I would love to get my ticket one day, as I do enjoy the trade and feel I'm quite good at what I do, so hopefully that can be a possibility in the future.

Hardware Store Clerk

Coaldale Lumber
04.2010 - 09.2012
  • The lumber yard was purchased by Prairie Sky, and I was hired by them right after the store closed. They saw how hard I worked and offered me a job, for which I was very grateful.
  • the front area of the store, helping customers and handing out cash.
  • Did inventory both ordering and receiving
  • Trained new employees.
  • Loaded lumber in the yard for customers, cut lumber, and put together lumber packages. Ran the forklift, unloading trucks. I will admit that was a long time ago, and I haven't touched a forklift or any machinery of the sort since.

Apprentice Carpenter

Stuart Olson Construction
06.2006 - 02.2008
  • Kept job site cleaned up properly and all debris disposed of in respective containers.
  • Assisted with movement of materials and equipment to job sites.
  • Interpreted specifications and construction drawings to understand the tasks necessary to complete each job. Learned to use all manner of power tools and hand tools.
  • Cut materials according to specifications in preparation for installation. We did all the concrete work on the entire building, so we learned how to form, pour, and finish concrete.
  • The company was the general contractor, so it helped out with a lot of other trades when they were short on people, which allowed me to see a lot of aspects from many different construction trades.
  • The job was a large building at the Lethbridge University; I was hired from day one of the build and was one of the last employees left when the job was finished. The next job the company had was in Calgary, so I was unable to work for them anymore, and I was unemployed. A few months later, I went and completed my first year of schooling for carpentry.
