I Work full scope as a primary nurse at Foothills Medical Centre Unit 52 postpartum. My patient load is up to 4 dyads of Mom and baby (babies). I perform full assessments on Postpartum women who have delivered vaginally and by cesarean section. Often these women have had high risk pregnancies including complications such as gestational hypertension, pre eclampsia, HELPP syndrome and gestational diabetes as well as other medical issues. I also perform full assessments on newborns 36 weeks and over, monitoring vital signs and blood sugars. I provide education and assist mothers on caring for their infant, including teaching and support with breast feeding. Additional skills include IV insertion, Foley catheter insertion and removal, medication administration, Iron infusion and blood transfusions.
