I am an energetic, passionate, and highly engaged secondary education teacher. My areas of study include Social Studies and Biological sciences. I am extremely resourceful and continuously looking for ways to incorporate technology and diverse pedagogy to enhance learning for all students. I take exceptional care in providing student-centered learning that caters to the needs of individuals, while simultaneously incorporating group discussions and opportunities for collaboration. I look for any opportunity to coach or be involved in group athletics and many other forms of community involvement.
For my second practicum I taught an advanced Grade 9 Social Studies class, an advanced Grade 8 Social Studies class, two Grade 8 Social Studies classes, Communication Technology, Science, Religion, and Health. Due to the wide range of courses and abilities of each class, all lessons were created to enhance the diverse range of individual learning needs. During this time I also coached the senior women's basketball team.
For my first practicum I taught Grade 9 Social Studies and one Grade 8 Physical Education. My duties included creating lesson plans, adjusting lessons according to the needs of students, incorporating technology, effective scaffolding for new lessons or skills, and maintaining a classroom with approximately 30 students in each class. During this time, I also coached the senior men's volleyball team.
I coached the senior women's volleyball team for many years, two of which included winning the banner for their tier. Duties as a coach included conducting volleyball tryouts, running afternoon practices three times a week, running morning practices two times a week, assessing athlete abilities, creating unique drills based on skill level, and adjusting drills based on specific areas needed for athletic growth. Additionally, I helped run a volleyball camp for two years for ages 11-16.
