Kayden Roker

After having gained experience as a grassroots soccer coach, the club i was working under, Atletico Kingston, promoted me to the position of a U8 developmental coach. Being one of the youngest coaches in this role at the club, my new job was to emphasize tactics with players and foster their development. Instead of simply encouraging players to play the game, I would give players structured feedback on how they can improve and what they can do better. I also:

• Organized and led practice sessions focused on game strategies and skill development.
• Mentored junior coaches in effective teaching techniques and player engagement strategies.
• Promoted sportsmanship and teamwork principles among players during practices and games.
• Fostered a safe, positive environment for players to grow both athletically and personally through mentoring efforts.

During my time in high school, I worked as a grassroots soccer coach, where I instructed and taught young children how to play soccer. This was not only a paid position, but a learning experience for me. I learned how to be both a leader as a coach and a good public speaker, articulating my advice to young children on how to play the game effectively. Throughout my tenure, I also:

• Observed and analyzed player performance to provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborated with parents to discuss player progress and address concerns.
• Facilitated drills to enhance teamwork, coordination, and game strategies.
