  • 01/2019, 05/2019, Daughters of charity, Student Social Care Worker, I volunteered with the Daughters of Charity for Adults with intellectual disabilities as part of my 2nd year college placement. During that time, I had the role of a student social care worker, where I worked in a group setting. There, I practiced and applied professional boundaries and facilitated solo workshops with service user groups. I worked under supervision and reported to my supervisor daily. I worked and improved on my initiative as I had to make decisions while my supervisor was absent.
  • 01/2020, 09/2020, TOPS, Student Social Care Worker, I briefly volunteered in TUSLA TOPs service, for young people involved in The social work department, as my 3rd year placement. My role was student social care worker. This was a two to one interaction with young people. My role entailed promoting the choice of the young person through individual sessions, to help on their resilience. I practiced professional relationship building with the young people. I planned an intervention to meet the needs of the service, but I was unable to facilitate this due to an abrupt end to this work. This volunteer work ended due to unforeseen circumstances of COVID-19. However, this was completed by September 2020.
