  • I was a partner with my dad for 13 years. We opened the business with no clients and developed a great relationship with our clients. While dad worked for Municipal Hail crop adjusting in the summers, it was my responsibility to open & close the office, make up the deposits & balance everyday. I worked closely with the marketing reps and underwriters and still have a great relationship with the underwriters at Portage Mutual. I learned very quickly to be independent and to do things on my own. If you don't know the answer - ask. There is always someone with more knowledge than you have.
  • When my dad became ill in 2007, we decided to sell to Derkach Insurance and I managed the Langenburg & Spy Hill offices for him doing Canada Post, Liquor, General Insurance, MVD as well as hunting/fishing licenses.

Accomplishments

In my work history, I have always worked in the customer service industry. When my parents owned an auction market, I worked in the kitchen making and selling food. After graduation, I went in to the banking field and worked as a teller and then as a utility clerk until my husband and I took over his family farm. After the kids were in scholl I went back to work as an assistant manager for Gopherville - a tourist attraction In Langenburg a few years ago. I have also worked as a cook & assistant manager for Chicken Chef in Langenburg as well as partnering with a friend and having our own catering service. I have always enjoyed being around people and helping in any way I can.

Growing up I was lucky enough to be able to go the EXPO with our local high school band and later with the International Tour Band and choir to Europe for 3 weeks performing band & choir concerts across Europe.  I truly enjoy music and have spent much time at my son's concerts as he grew up and then later as he directed his own band concerts as well as attending and supporting our granddaughter through her own musical career.    I enjoy fishing- not only in the summer but ice fishing as well.  Gardening is also another hobby I enjoy.  It's great to see the plants grow and either produce flowers  or the vegetables produced to harvest in fall.
