In my position as a Veterinary Assistant I am responsible for assisting the Dr. and technicians with all duties that are required for patient care. Restraining animals for bloodwork, nail trims, anal gland expression, IV catheters for surgery, ear flushes, X-rays, and anything that is needed for the patient recommended by the Dr.

Other duties include filling of prescriptions, daily cleaning responsibilities including laundry, mopping, cleaning examination rooms and treatment areas.

• Assisted veterinarians during examinations and procedures to ensure animal comfort.
• Maintained cleanliness of animal care areas and equipment for safety and hygiene.
• Prepared and organized medical supplies for surgeries and treatments as needed.

I also was responsible for the care of our boarding facility that held up to 25 cats. My duties included cleaning the cages, litter boxes, feeding, medication, and laundry. Most of my duties on a daily basis were to assist the technicians with cats for grooming, blood work, and any necessary procedures requested by the Dr.

Cleaning the treatment area and stocking of supplies were also included in the daily routine.
