Accomplishments
Assisted in the development of the Clinical Skin Institute that included a root cause analysis for each identified hospital acquired pressure injury case. Meetings were held with management and bedside nursing staff and learning opportunities were identified and implemented on the units. Data was collected by this nurse and tracked in excel via spreadsheets and creating a contributing factors analysis graph.
Identified that our surgery area was having an increase in hospital acquired pressure injuries due to increased table times. Collaborated with surgery management, educator and our vendor to develop a new process that included a specialized cushion under patient as well as a specialized preventative dressing to the buttocks area for pressure ulcer prevention. Our interventions were successful so much so that surgery has not had a pressure injury since. See attached poster presentation for full details. Poster is also on our vendor website at : https://www.ehob.com/media/kaweah-delta-or-waffle-poster-1.pdf
