I currently work in a three to one dedicated legal support role, meaning I balance the competing work requirements and calendars of three lawyers. Over the last nine years, two of the lawyers I support have practices which almost exclusively service the Power Workers' Union. In working with them over the years, I have gained a sophisticated understanding of the work that the legal department provides to the Union and its members. I am familiar with the grievance process, mediations and expedited arbitrations. I have a thorough awareness of how to efficiently schedule prep meetings and maintain organized hearing calendars. I have also assisted PWU administrative staff with the annual scheduling process. I regularly liaise with union representatives, grievors, mediators/arbitrators and opposing counsel. I am trusted by counsel to work autonomously to expertly manage legal files, from open to conclusion, and maintain streamlined organization in each file within a document management system. I keep a meticulous tickler system with respect to due dates, deadlines and tasks requiring follow-up. Given my demonstrated competencies, my specific skillset would prove me to be an asset to the legal department. As an adept legal administrator, my expertise in documentation editing and honed talents in preparing briefs and recording case information, make me an ideal fit for the Law Clerk position. I am also a recognized expert in critical thinking and a communicative collaborator. My previous roles have strengthened my capabilities in organization and time-management, which include a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
