Due to my dad's job, our family frequently volunteers when the K-Love association volunteers. The most recent one was a food drive for some unfortunate people who needed supplies that they might not have been able to afford. This whole ordeal took place at a Columbia State Community College parking lot. Many families and volunteers came to help pack up food, direct traffic flow, and administer prayer and help to anyone who needed it.
Our church does Vacation Bible School for the littles at our church and for the Boys and Girls Club down the street. Last year, it was so much fun to be able to make connections, direct some fun games, and talk to the kids about Jesus. Many of them shared their personal experiences with me, and I am glad I was there to hear them. I am looking forward to continuing it this upcoming year, and can not wait to teach and have fun with the kids!
Along with pet sitting, my neighbors required house care as well during their vacations. Thankfully, they left the house clean and tidy, so my main jobs were picking up mail, taking out the trash, restocking their bird feed, and watering their plants. This whole process required following specific instructions from the homeowners and regular communication.
During the owners' absence, I provided attentive care for their pets. This entailed checking in on them twice a day, cleaning and refilling their bowls, and accommodating any irregular habits the animals developed. A few of them required particular medications to be snuck into their food, which led to a need to closely monitor their behavior and food to ensure the medicines were consumed. Frequent check-ins between the owners and me helped to build trust between us and allowed the watch over the animals' well-being to go much more smoothly.
