
I worked for the State of California for 27 years as a peace officer and public safety officer. I retired early and am looking to put my years of varying experiences into a different line of work. I have complex investigative experience conducting administrative and criminal investigations. I oversaw and led staff in their investigative work statewide, including assigning cases, follow-up, and guidance. I have exceptional communication, report writing and organizational skills with a strong aptitude for analyzing issues and interpreting policies and regulations. I am a self motivated person, I can work independent and with a team. I thrive working under pressure with strict deadlines and multitasking. I am well skilled with solving problems, managing, and resolving conflict. I have vast computer skills knowledge working with various case management systems, law enforcement databases, report writing, time keeping, Microsoft Suites, and more.
I conducted administrative, regulatory and criminal investigations. I investigated complex cases with multi-agency involvement, which were criminal, civil, and administrative in nature. I gathered evidence, conducted undercover operations, interviewed suspects, participated in task force meetings, wrote reports, served search warrants, created investigative plans, issued citations, issued notices of violations, authored arrest warrants and subpoenas, and submitted cases to District Attorney's offices statewide for filing. As lead, I oversaw and supported staff in their investigative work statewide. I assigned cases using a case monitoring system, I monitored investigative efforts, conducted case conferences, and reviewed and corrected final investigative reports. I maintained a case monitoring system to track case activity and disposition. I received referrals from regional offices, new complaints, and investigative assignments. I trained staff in developing more complex investigative strategies for successful criminal prosecution. I provide updates to management. I assist investigators with interpretations regarding law violations. I’ve provided training for allied agencies and staff.
As a sworn peace officer for the Office of Internal Affairs (OIA), I conducted complex administrative and criminal investigations surrounding misconduct by employees, inmates, parolees, and civilians. In addition, I conducted Office of Civil Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity investigations of misconduct. I acted as a senior special agent, supervising staff, providing direction on investigative strategy, assigning, monitoring, and managing investigative caseloads, ensuring training was up-to-date, and work schedules. I trained staff on procedural processes, policy, search and seizure, legal processes, interviewing techniques, and case law interpretation. I made arrests and served search warrants. I received Institute of Criminal Investigation (ICI) advanced interrogation training and high-risk entry training. I worked with State attorneys and the Office of Inspector General legal staff with each assigned case.
As a sworn peace officer, I worked as a parole agent, I directly supervised parolees. I provided public protection, investigated criminal parole violations, wrote investigative reports, and made arrests. I was the lead agent on high-risk arrests and searches. I testified in Board of Parole Hearings. I monitored the behavior of parolees by field supervision and surveillance. I evaluated and monitored social behavior for the purpose of counseling and rehabilitative efforts. I promoted and assisted with individual parolee adjustment and employment assistance for parolees. I interviewed witnesses and suspects related to criminal violations.
I was promoted to a parole agent II position, where I oversaw high-level, critical projects driven by court litigation, mandates, legislative initiatives and operational needs related to violent offenders and victim rights. I investigated cases regarding violent offenders. I obtained legal documents, interviewed witnesses and victims, and prepared written reports for the Department of Mental Health and District Attorney's office for the Civil Commitment proceedings.
In addition, I was appointed by the Governor of California, approved by the Senate, to the Corrections Standards Authority Board, where I served as a board member for over two years overseeing grant money provided to counties throughout the State of California.
As a sworn peace officer, I worked as a correctional officer on the mainline and was then promoted into the Investigative Services Unit (ISU). ISU is the police department for prisons, investigating all crimes that take place on and off prison grounds. I worked in nearly every position within the institution. My primary duties while working at ISU were narcotic interdiction and conducting extensive complex criminal investigations. I was the lead when responding to riots, violent acts,and medical emergencies. I assisted in escape details. I worked with outside law enforcement agencies to identify crime patterns of civilians and parolees associated with crimes in their jurisdiction. I worked with confidential informants, interviewed suspects and witnesses, and wrote reports and submitted to various District Attorney offices, investigative research, provided court testimony, gang identification, and validation. I conducted surveillance, supervised inmates, collected evidence, preserved crime scenes, and worked with outside law enforcement agencies.
I started working as a merchandiser for Nabisco Biscuit Company stocking product at various grocery stores in Sacramento and Solano County. I worked with the public and provided customer service.
After a year, I was promoted to a Sales Representative where I cultivated relationships with clients and assisted with growth and marketing. I ordered for each store within my district, I sold displays for various promotions, and oversaw merchandisers and scheduled them nightly. I always exceeded my sales goals and provided excellent customer service.
