The Community Liaison serves as a bridge between the schools (or district) and families/parents — communicating key information about attendance, school programs, events, and services in a secondary language. The liaison supports family and community engagement, helping parents/caregivers understand and access school resources, programs, and opportunities.
Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to students with limited or non-English proficiency (bilingual / bicultural students). Support learning, language acquisition, and overall academic progress — typically in small groups or individually — particularly for English learners or “newcomer” students. Provide translation and interpretation services between school staff, students, and families when needed (both oral and written).
Under supervision, the main responsibility is to identify eligible children and families into the district’s Migrant Education Program (MEP) by conducting interviews over the phone. Provide assistance, information, and support to migrant families — including directing them to school and community services, and helping them navigate available resources. Maintain and manage documentation related to migrant students including eligibility documentation.
