Kamia Gutierrez is a visionary filmmaker and educator who has spent over 3 years teaching at San Francisco State University. Gutierrez works with students at all levels to guide them throughout the entire process of making a film, having students engage with every department to allow them to explore and find what aspect of filmmaking best speaks to them. Through working on more than 20 independent films, Gutierrez has an understanding of all aspects of filmmaking, allowing her to engage students in any role they're interested in. As an artist from a marginalized background herself, Gutierrez finds incredible value and meaning in being able to assist students from similar backgrounds into the world of filmmaking. It is her philosophy that everyone is a filmmaker. Several of Gutierrez's former students have gone to join the film industry.
