Primarily worked on cardiac surgery, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and the short stay surgical unit. I had the opportunity to work in the emergency department and ICU on several occasions for additional assistance in patient care.
Worked collaboratively with a team of nurses to provide comprehensive care to all ages in a Sioux Lookout Ontario. This remote hospital in Northern Ontario provides care to the surrounding 28 First Nation communities. Completed culturally sensitive care, head to toe assessments, monitored patients during their hospital stay, carried out physicians’ orders, and developed therapeutic nurse-client relationships.
Working out doors in challenging conditions. I worked during the summer months for 4 summers. This taught me work ethic, time management and how to cope in difficult situation.
I ran the after school program for a elementary private school. The age of children ranged from five to fourteen. I supervised eight to ten children on average. Duties included preparing snacks and activities for the children until they were pick up by their family.
