PATH 300: Background to Medical Laboratory Science 

  • Operated rotary microtomes for tissue sample sectioning in histological preparations
  • Performed tissue staining using histochemical stains (H&E, Masson’s Trichrome, Toluidine Blue, Oil Red O)
  • Stained 20+ slides in various histochemical stains such as Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) and Masson’s Trichrome, which were used to identify staining patterns within various tissue components
  • Successfully identified an unknown tissue based on its staining properties given the 20+ slides of known stained tissues and delivered a 15-minute class presentation to present results and supporting evidence


PATH 304: Normal Human Histology

  • Regularly used a light microscope to examine histology slides
  • Performed light microscopy and electron microscopy (EM) analyses to differentiate tissue types based on structural characteristics
  • Proficiently operated the Aperio digital pathology imaging system for online slide viewing
