Inclusion Support Worker

  • Assists participants to actively engage in small group and one to one activities during various recreation programs (quizzes, discussions, active games, crafts) to support socialization
  • Ensures the safety of participants during the Senior Day Program (arrival, throughout the day, and departure)
  • Assists participants with washroom assistance including toileting, handwashing and personal hygiene as required
  • Helps with meal service and eating as required
  • Assists participants with the use of assistive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, canes), lifts and transfers and going for walks in and outside of the building
  • Reminds participants to take medications and documents this on the appropriate forms
  • Observes participants physical and cognitive conditions and reports to appropriate staff as well as ensuring it is written in the staff communication book
  • Implements Montessori Methods for Dementia effectively during programs
  • Uses Responsive Behaviours training techniques for dealing with challenging participants
  • Ensures there is a safe environment for participants during the SMART Exercise Program (one to one support and leading as required)
  • Exhibits empathic, supportive listening skills consistently when interacting with participants.
